What are the classifications of common resins?

By source
The resin is divided into natural resin and synthetic resin. Natural resin refers to amorphous organic substances obtained from animal and plant secretions in nature, such as rosin, amber, shellac and the like. Synthetic resin refers to a resin product obtained by chemical synthesis of a simple organic substance or chemical reaction of certain natural products, such as a phenol resin, a polyvinyl chloride resin, etc., wherein the synthetic resin is a main component of plastics.
Synthetic reaction
In this way, the resin can be divided into addition polymers and polycondensates. The addition polymer refers to a polymer obtained by addition polymerization, and the chemical structure of the chain structure is the same as that of the monomer, such as polyethylene, polystyrene, polytetrafluoroethylene, and the like.
The polycondensate refers to a polymer obtained by a condensation polymerization reaction, and the chemical formula of the structural unit is different from that of the monomer, such as a phenol resin, a polyester resin, a polyamide resin, or the like.
Composition by molecular backbone
According to this method, the resin can be classified into a carbon chain polymer, a hetero chain polymer, and an elemental organic polymer.
The carbon chain polymer refers to a polymer in which the main chain is entirely composed of carbon atoms, such as polyethylene, polystyrene, or the like.
The heterochain polymer refers to a polymer composed of atoms of two or more elements of carbon and oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and the like, such as polyoxymethylene, polyamide, polysulfone, polyether, and the like.
The elemental organic polymer means that the main chain does not necessarily contain carbon atoms, and is mainly composed of atoms of elements such as silicon, oxygen, aluminum, titanium, boron, sulfur, phosphorus, and the like, such as silicone.
By nature
Thermosetting resins (glasses are generally used for such resins): unsaturated polyester/vinyl ester/epoxy/phenolic/bismaleimide (BMI)/polyimide resin.
Thermoplastic resin: polypropylene (PP) / polycarbonate (PC) / nylon (NYLON) / polyetheretherketone (PEEK) / polyethersulfone (PES) and the like.
Synthetic resin is a type of high molecular polymer synthesized by hand. The most important application of synthetic resins is in the manufacture of plastics. In order to facilitate processing and improve performance, additives are often added, and sometimes used directly for forming, so it is often synonymous with plastic. Synthetic resins are also the basic raw materials for the manufacture of synthetic fibers, coatings, adhesives, and insulating materials. There are many kinds of synthetic resins, among which polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP) and ABS resin are the five general-purpose resins, and are the most widely used synthetic resin materials.
Resin Crafts
Resin materials are used in the styling materials of this group of crafts, and their smoothness and bright texture make full use of the advantages of their materials.
The resin contained in the hot melt glue stick and the hot melt rubber particle includes: EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate), petroleum resin, polypropylene polyethylene, and the like.
